Want To Buy - Nordmende Othello trim piece
3/24/2012 11:20:24 AMDennis Wess
I know there is a very slim chance of finding this part but you never know..........

I'm hoping to find someone that might have a donor cabinet for a German made Nordmende Othello tabletop. The part I would like to purchase is the brass edge surround trim as seen in the web-photo below.

Please email me if you have this brass trim available for purchase.

:I don't know if this will help Dennis but I have a friends Normende Fidella 58 that is very similar to your cabinet. I know it doesn't work. It's complete and I believe the original schematic paperwork is still inside the back but I'd have to open it up to verify that. I've had it for a couple of years and I called him when I saw your post and asked him if he wanted to sell it. He said he would take $100 for the complete radio. Sounds a little high to me but that's what he wants. If you did want it the real killer would be shipping. I'm located in Oregon. Here's a picture of it. You can email me by placing your mouse pointer over my name and clicking on it.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me Johnny, but you are right. His asking price is too high ..... at least for the usage I am in need of.

That radio you show shouldn't be used as a donor anyhow......it would be nice to see that one restored to working condition and looking good.

If I cannot come up with the trim piece via the online forums I am hoping to find a donor radio at one of this year's radio meets in my area. My challenge will be to find a radio that is in bad enough shape to warrant a reasonable price but still have an intact trim molding.

Thanks again.

This is a maybe. Aftermarket automotive door edge trim comes in gold and silver. This is very flexible to go around car doors. Could be better than nothing.

Hmmm.....that just might be a possibility...worth looking into.

The original molding had an "L" shape to it, so trying to make one out of brass would be pretty tough (to get it to go around the corner radii). Maybe something made of flexible vinyl or mylar might work. I'll have to shop around the auto supply shops.

Thanks Warren
