Electrolytic Caps for Emerson R-156
3/14/2012 9:39:42 PMJay
I am trying to restore an Emerson R-156 small tombstone. I want to replace the original electrolytic caps but I am confused. The can appears to be chassis grounded and has three wires. However, the schematic on Nostalgia Air only shows two electrolytics--dual 5mf/300v. Will someone tell me why the 3 wires and should there be only two electrolytic caps as shown on the schematic? What do I do about the third wire if the can is ground? Thanks

Better look at the schematic again. C-19 negative end is chassis grounded. C-20 negative end goes to center tap of the transformer. The positive ends share the same connection. That’s why 3 wires.

Thanks Warren. I am new at this so I didn't interpret the schematic correctly. I am learning thanks to help from people like you and the forum.
