Hi Scott
I've sent you a schematic by email for Firestone, Air Chief, Chassis R-166. The tubes lineup is the same except the 6N5. The schematic shows a 6G5 which is interchangeable in your radio.

I just came across this posting & your message. What you've got is a Firestone R-1661 (1937). I restored mine about 6-months ago and listen to it almost every night. It is quite an upscale radio. It's got a topside inline fuse compartment (to protect the power transformer), delayed avc, tuning eye tube and a great lighted dial. But the feature I like best is its non-slip tuning. It doesn't use a pulley/dialcord mechanism but rather a small stainless pressure-wheel pinching a larger steel semicircle. There is almost no hysteresis in tuning back-and-forth between stations. I modified mine to accept a 6E5 eye instead of the 6G5 since mine is located in my basement with an indoor antenna. Sensitivity rivals my Zenith 7S529 which has an rf-stage + wavemagnet (the Airchief doesn't...just a 6A8 converter). Great radio, nice colored dial. Enjoy it.

: I just came across this posting & your message. I can't lend any information on your search; in fact, I also have an Air Chief by Firestone. My radio has only two knobs (volume and tuning). It is a large wooden table model. The dial on the right has kilocycles on the top and meters on the bottom. On the left side are two wooden vertical decorative pieces on the speaker. There is a connection for a 1.5 battery. I also need a schematic so that I can begin the job of repairing it.
If you Scott, or anyone else out there can give any information regarding date, schematic, and place where battery may be purchased, I'd appreciate it.
