I have a Philco 118. The problem it's having is the reception is weak until I touch the RF tube, it gains power and could hear stations well again. It will last a little while then I have to touch it again. Should I replace the tube? I switched Rf and IF tubes around with same results. Thanks in advance

This could be caused by a dirty band switch. Try turning the switch a bunch of times when is fades out. Or just clean it good. By swapping the tubes you have proved the tube is okay. Have you replaced the old capacitors?

:I replaced three 8 mfd electrolytics, all the capacitors except the electrolytics in a can that has three 1 mfd. and one 2 mfd capacitors. Switch is clean. I will order and replace remaining electolytics and see what happens. Thanks

A lot of Philco radios are known to have the green dot disease. This could be the problem with the antenna coil. Check your antenna coil for this. See this link about half way down the page.
