1960's Zenith Console Phono

Hi all , I got this from a buddy who was going to put it to the road , it plays great except the AM all it does is motorboat , the FM and phono play great. It is a model SL2505 . I cannot find a schematic for this set on line. I replaced the electrolytic caps in it only. My old jackson 648 does not have listings for the receiver tubes so I cannot test them. MY buddy told me this was a 1963 set Would a tube cause this motorboating on the AM only?
Any hints or even a schematic would be great help.
Thanks

Elton,
You can find the Betman schematic here:

http://makearadio.com/beitmans/index.php

It's in the 1964 on page 187.
It's also covered in Sams 685-15.

Thanks Carl, I have that one , it only shows the power supply and amp not the radio portion , I guess the radio chassis was separate with a model number 7L20, which is nowhere to be found, I will have to order thru sams online
Thanks for your help

Many of the main city public libraries has Sams Photofacts folders on hand in Reference. Ask them. All you have to do is photocopy what you need.
Is the AM band motorboating across the entire band or at one end of the band? Does anything that you do affect it? What is the tube complement?

:
I'm afraid I had my story backwards the AM is dead across the band and the FM motorboats, it is a 7 tube chassis 2-12BA6, 1-12BE6, 1-12AU6, 1-12DT8, 1-35W4, and lastly 1-19GQ7, there is no tube chart anywhere to tell if it even has the right tubes or not, hence my needing a schematic, I did replace the electrolytics only but made no difference. Our local Library only has a few sams available , so I went and ordered one direct from them on their web site, they sent me a e-mail telling me it was up and ready to be downloaded today ,I clicked on the link they sent me, and it did not work.... it figures , now I got to contact them to fix it , If it weren't for bad luck I 'd have none at all.
Thanks
Elton
