Looking for Zenith 6B08 Chassis
1/3/2012 7:45:25 PMBrainC
Bought a Zenith 6S656 console for a buddy, his first 'vintage' radio. Someone put a Silvertone chassis in it, looks hideous, but is reversable if I can find a 6B08 chassis and put it in. Thanks...

Hi Miller and Brian,
I have an idea on getting chasses. On this web site is the schematic for your Zenith model 6S656, http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/247/M0025247.pdf.
On the schematic three chassis are described and seven models including the 6S656. With a little research you may be able to verify if all three chasses would be suitable.
Some of the models are likely to be table models, which can be sent through the mail. This gives better prospects for finding a suitable Zenith radio as a donor chassis for your consoles.
It will likely take some patience, but I suspect that within a year you will both have chasses, just flip a coin so you don't bid against each other.
There is a 6S632 on eBay now, http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-VINTAGE-TUBE-RADIO-ZENITH-6S632-/120837237597?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2275eb5d. I recognize it as one that commonly comes up and its chassis will fit in your consoles.

All the Best,

Bill Grimm

Thanks for the tip Bill...I'm sure something will eventually turn up..I may have had one a few years ago, and of course it's 'gone' now.
