Looking for ER247-tube
11/16/2001 2:34:05 PMMarc Verschooris
Hello everybody

Am looking for an ER247-tube to place in a Weser Bros. radio (New York)... the other tubes are 57, 58 & 80, easily to find. But what with the ER247?
For any information, thank you very much!

Hello Marc, Your ER247 is an Eveready Kenrad version of the 47 output pentode. Originally the first number was used to designate the maker, 2 for RCA (247), 3 for Cunnungham (347), etc. Some makers also used their initials in the start of the number. Cunningham used C (they were actually made by RCA), National Union used NU or NY, Kenrad used KR and your Eveready Kenrad, ER. Shortly after the prefixes were dropped and they just used the significant numbers, your tube became 47, the 280 became 80, etc. You should be able to find a 47 OK, let's know if you have trouble and I'll suggest a couple of suppliers. do you have a schematic for your set? If not I'll see if I can find one for you. I can't see a Weser Bros, there was a Webster Electric Co. and webster Chicargo Corp. Can you check the spelling please. If it's really Weser Bros. perhaps Alan Douglas who wrote "Radio Manufactures of the Twenties" might be able to shed some light on the set. Does it have a model number? Don Black.
