Mystery Radio ?????

Hi All, recently picked up a radio and having a real bear of a time ID-ing it. I've looked every where. On the back it says licensed by (Radio Corp of America, Westinghouse, & General Electric. It is a mantel style with the dial scale in the center it is red and white. There is a SW/BC switch just under the dial scale. The volume is on the left and the tuner is on the right. The chassis has a 116 stamped on it. The dial scale has the speaker right behind it. It has wooden knobs with real fancy brass caps over the front of them. The sides have like a flutted section on each side that gets thicker at the bottom. It sorta looks like some of the older Emersons. It has a line resistance cord and is from around 1934/35. Please help Lost in Vegas! Thanks George T.

This set sounds like an unknown brand that could have had the name such a " General -- Universal " or any other name. It may have been made by Warwick. Some had the resistor line cord, and others with the same chassis had a ballast tube. All were TRF sets. This could be similar to Emerson 108 or Warwick 542

Can you link to some photos, including a readable closeup of the patent plate? Lots of manufacturers built radios that were very similar but the uncommon red and white dial may be a clue when combined with the patent plate.

Hi Again, the dial scale and the excruthion look like a Hamilton 104. Like the one on Radio Attic except the dial scale has red in the center and around the police band and a couple other areas. It is that type of radio a mantel top but the cut outs are different. Couldn't find anymore on Hamilton radios yet. Thanks, George T

Makes sense, since the Hamilton model 104 was also built by Detrola. From your photos in the new topic about this same set, yours is a Detrola 116, although it could have been sold with any of dozens of brand names on the front of it.
