Speed Clips

Is there a special tool I can use to remove speed clips from a Bakelite cabinet?
These clips are holding the speakers in the cabinet and I don't want to break the post.

In the automotive industry or at a local harware store you can find pliers that are used to get snap rings off of hoses or other...The rings have to holes on the ends and the pliers has two "prongs" that go in these holes and spread the ring apart to get ring off of hose fitting or other..When u squeez plier handels it speads ring apart...I use this to get those "speed clips" off of vairious items..such as when they are holding speakers or other...

: What I use is a pair of diagonal cutters with a very sharp & as small as possible tip. Get the tip in the hole as good as possible & CAREFULLY move the tip back. But first be sure you can get into the hole because some locations are VERY hard to reach into. Grip the tip on to the tab & VERY CAREFULLY bend the tab back enough to be free of the stud. A new pair of (DIAMOND TOOL & HORSESHOE) cutters are the best as they have a SMALL pointed tip. They made horses shoes for the logging area & then graduated into tools quite a ways back. DIAMOND TOOL & HORSESHOE out of DULUTH makes them & sells them all over the U.S. I know the speed clips you are talking about. They push on to a stud & the tips grip a stud so they can't be pulled off. (NORMALLY). But people like us amatures will find a way! Be careful that you don't break the stud though!
