Hello all..I have a Philco 39 that I got for $20 at a Value Village store, pretty good deal,You can see this radio and hear it howling on my Youtube channel: Thermionman 1970 /" If I only had the 3 missing tube shields would it work"....I t actually sounds cool like a thereimin.Anyways I was told there is no way that the radio should howl like this because of missing shields and that it is likely a bad interstage transformer or capacitor etc...However If I place my hands on or near the radio tubes it comes in fine as seen in the video ...Also shortwave bands don't howl....Anyone know if it is shield problem or not.Oh the 6Q7 tube is a metal tube so shielding should not be a problem with that one.....

Sir Chris . . . . .
Create yourself some temporary toobie shields with alum-mum-mum-in-in-i-yum foil and ground them and THEN sees WHASSSSSSSS-UUUUUP ?

Make your own temporary tube shields with tin foil. Hold a wire to the foil with a rubber band. Ground the wire to chassis. If the problem stops, you now know.
