I am making progress on the 1S49 Cruiser....is the symbol on the Rider schematic at the antenna coils in the upper right corner that looks like a symbol for "chassis ground"....supposed to be the symbol for the antenna? And I am guessing the ships mast and rigging make a single wire antenna, not a loop with two connecting points?

T-1 is the antenna coil. The rake looking symbol in the upper left is the antenna. The ships rigging is the antenna coupled through C-1.

Thanks again Warren, just wanted to make sure I had this right. I am getting one strong local station at this point, so making headway....someone had completely miswired the T1 circuitry at some point. BTW, my schematic didn't specify electrolytic values so I used two 40Mfd units, if I am way off let me know.
Thanks,
Steve

A lot of times the antenna coil has an open winding. Someone in the past may have bypassed the coil, and connected the antenna to the grid of the 12SA7. This makes a sloppy poor reception radio. Check continuity of the primary and secondary windings of T-1
This set has a Field Coil that is also used for a filter choke in the power supply. The filter capacitors for C-15 about 22MFD and C-17 40MFD is fine.

The windings on the antenna coil check fine for continuity, one of the primary wires had broken loose, and the antenna couplimg cap was soldered to the wrong terminal. After repairing this I now have one strong signal, thats all, so I have some more work to do. I don't have a set of tubes or means of checking these so could have a problem there but I doubt it. Thanks for the tips so far!
