Sencore TC-131 Tube Tester
8/31/2011 12:29:44 PMSteve Bento
Does anyone have the manual or tube charts for the Sencore TC131 Tube Tester? I can't seem to find them on the net and was hoping someone here might have one and could help me out. One page said it was similar to the Mighty Mite but this one doesn't have the same controls. There's also a couple of different versions of it. Thanks...

Bob Putnaks wonderful site, http://tubesound.com/2008/08/12/repair-calibration-sencore-mighty-mite/

has a huge inventory of data on all the Sencores. They were all emission testers (except the "Continental")

Also the "tone lounge" http://tone-lizard.com/Sencore.htm

has nice write up on this series.

also, the tube sound page

http://tubesound.com/2008/08/12/repair-calibration- sencore-mighty-mite/

Shows the calibration of the Sencore series. Hope this helps!

Oh yeah, the manual could be purchased (yikes!) at http://www.surplussales.com/manuals/man_sencor.html

but what's the fun of buying it?

Thanks Mac, I've seen those sites. But none of them have any info specific to the 131. It seems to be different from the mighty mite in that this has only 3 controls and the mighty mite and others have 4. Therefore the tube data I'm assuming will be different. If I had the schematic for it I could compare it but I unfortuneatly found nothing on it. But yeah, I rather not purchase it if I can help it, that'd be my last option and that doesn't include the new tube data info either...

Sorry...I was under the impression the 131 was just an improved version in the famous mighty mite series. Try emailing Bob Putnak at tubesound, as he is a remarkable resource on tube testers.

I've now educated myself a bit on this one. I see that the 131 was a "semi-automatic" unit, designed for bench work, and perhaps used in stores as well. You're right, it will likely have a very different set up than the Mighty Mites. I'll poke around here locally and see if I can find anything for you

Just wanted to let anyone interested know, that I bought the manual for this. I plan on making a pdf of it so if anyone else is interested I can send copies out. I bought it for $18 which is a ripoff for just a 5 page photocopy, but no one else seemed to have it so I didn't have much choice. I want to eventually put it on the BAMA site as well.

:Great, Thanks for your help Mac

Glad to hear it, and it the grand scheme, the cost is less than pizza, and more nutritious!

I just got my Mighty Mite VII, and really appreciate the sturdy design. I'm looking at the SM on Ebay, for around $10, and, like you, have waited as I'm a bit too Scottish to fork over the $$ just yet!

BTW, where did you find the manual? The price looks like Service Manuals.net....

It was that Nebraska Surplus place. It was $12 plus $6 shipping! It has the schematic which is good but I was also hoping it would have something on finding the settings for testing new tubes which it doesn't.

Did the Surplus Sales Of Nebraska schematic (TC-131)also include componant values (resistors, capacitors, etc.)? Thanks.
