Hi, hate to ask dumb questions,but I am just learning. What I was asking was someone coupled the 35L6 with 12SK7 with a 30 electrolytic,I already have my 2 filter 40s in place.Can,t find a 30 on schematic.I,m thinking it should not be there or should be a standard cap. Xin lỗi ! . . . . . . WOW . .now, as you might have interpreted, I REALLY was not initially BELIEVING that some modern generaton servicer had ACTUALLY placed an electrolytic capacitor for interstage coupling between the 12SQ7 and 35L6 stages.

Put a conventional .01 standard 200-600 DCV capacitor in that position.

The fierce leakage being caused by that electrolytics utilization should have fouled up the current consumption on the 35L6 somewhat FIERCE and thereby account for your overheating resistiors.

Might check the rest of the sets parts out closely and be sure that no other boo-boos are additionally being present.

I'm just now realizing that I didn't additionally address the comment of your 12SK7 ? and 35L6 coupling involvement.

Since the 12SK7 is used for the IF stage it wouldn't be coupling into the 35L6 audio output stage, it would be the 12SQ7 that would be the tube of interest, with it being the one coupling audio into the 35L6.

Plus, since the 12SQ7 (7&8) and 12SK7 (2&7)have different filament pins, your last person must not have transposed those tubes positions or the whole string wouldn't now be lighting up.

Pin #5 is grid #1 on 35L6. Are you sure one end of a 30 mf was connected here? Pin #4 is B+. This pin will have positive end of one electrolytic cap.

Like Edd mentioned 12SK7's are RF and IF tubes. Signals from this tube shouldn't couple to 35L6. Pin #6 is B+ on 12SK7 and could have positive of an electrolytic cap?

Is it possible that 30uf is on the cathode of the 35L6.
as a bypass cap?

Originally this radio used negative feedback with a .02 mf cap between plate and cathode. It didn't have a cathode bypass cap.

Could have been added as this cap increases volume. I did this a few times years ago.

That's what I meant Norm... that maybe it was something added later.
