HELP, friend brought in an RCA chassis for repair.
He says model is R4-T4, can't locate schematic by
this number. Tube line up is 1V rect., 42 af out,
cant make out next tube but it is the detector and
either IF amp or AF voltage amp combined, and lastly
6A7 converter. Any ideas. The 1V may not be the
correct rect., dont know.

Thanx Bob C.

The radio may be RCA Model T4-8 or -9. Both use the same circuit. The Radio is in Rider Vol #6 and uses the following tubes: 6A7, 6F7, 41 (similar to 42) and 1V. The RCA R-4 is too old and uses 24's etc.

Thanx Norm. Through some careful detective work, radio
turned out to be an R100.

Power supply seems ok. When I turned it on, if it had a tape inside, the display started flashing on and off for about a second. It did this for about 10 mins/1hr and it started retracting the idler arms very slowly, bit by bit till they finally went all the way back. I once messed with a GE VCR (same chassis) with the same problem and was unable to fix it. I'm hoping this is a common problem. Now it won't even load the tape in! It powers up ok without the tape in but if I push it, the display flashes a few times but it doesn't load the tape.
The IR tape sensors seem ok too. I ran my finger thru its path and it tried loading the tape (then starts flashing). I also saw the IR diode with my IR viewer (I'm a laser tech-we work with 904nm lasers). So if you or anyone else has any ideas or if you can tell me about an RCA VCR repair website I will gladly appreciate your info.

Best Regards

Help, older model RCA VCR was accepting tape but spitting it right back out. Now it won't accept tape at all and powers off by itself withing seconds.
