Substitution for a 49-A Ballast Tube

Does anyone know of a viable substitution for this ballast tube. It is listed in Rider's as the appropriate ballast for a G.E. GD-60. Or if you know where I can find one, that would do nicely!

Hi Bob

Ballast 49A drops 49 volts at .3 amps. It can be replaced by a 165 ohm resistor @ 15 watts or greater. With todays high line voltage you could use 200 ohms @ 25 watts.

It comes with 2 different bases. 4 pin the resistor is between Pin 1 and Pin 4. Octal has the resistor between Pin 3 and Pin 7.

49A - 4 pin is replaceable by 4P-45, KX49A and JFD universal C type. 49A - octal is replaceable by K49A, K13J36 and JFD universal Type B. When using universal types certain jumpers need to be cut.

AES, tubesandmore.com , does sell ballasts for $14.95. It might be less expensive using a resistor.
