And there are 6L6 and 12L6 tubes which are a completely different beast, so don't even think about going there there.
:Hello, I have noticed that some of the radios that I have are using 50l6 tubes instead of 35l6 or even 25l6's in looking at the tube specs there seems to be no difference with them but they are not listed as interchangeable. What is the difference with them as the radios all seem to work fine.
:
As mentioned 50L6 can be used in place of 35L6 in most radios. There is a little difference in specs.
The difference being filament voltage. First numbers (50) indicates filament voltage. 35L6 has 35 volt filament.
Norm
:You can sub a 50L6 for a 35L6 anytime in a small series string radio, and it's a good thing because today's wall voltage is higher. I wouldn't go the other way around. The 25L6 has a different filament current from the other two (300 ma vs 150 ma) and is never ever a viable a substitute.
