Thank you for the help!

Sir Frank . . . . .

Well I tell you whuts . . . in lookking at the sizing perspective, relevant to the graining straitions in the oak wood displayed upon, that is looking to be a 1/2 watt resistor, with enough colorization left o be confirming the last tolerance banding as being a 10% tolerance unit.

Its side one . . . well done . . . .side two . . . medium well done.

Now I was fully expecting that to be a Bee Pluckinbothus + feed off resistor branching off from the power supply and in seeing the RED first band, I was going for a 22-- 220-- 2200-- ohm unit and the thre4shold is up at the 20K to be able to char like that with the sets available level of B+.

Looks like 2.2 K is definitely the word.

Thank "goooness" for your last photo-ma-graph-a-mus, as one can readily see the "hyperventilating" Bumble Bee .047 bypassing capacitor at fault . . . . with its express ticket . . straight out of split city !

I can make out the IF transformers 390 pf mica capacitor in the photo . . . but there are LIKE replications on the other two IF stages . . . so check out my RED-ORANGE- FUCHSIA mark ups to see WHICH was the one that failed on you.

Needless to say . . . you have some replicative cap replacement in other areas for PM aspects for the future.

I had almost completely forgotten about that particular series of receiver . . . that do be one one NICE . . .but massive unit !

Thassitt. . . .

Ah-my hero shows up!! Hi Edd-and thanks much for all the guidance from the getgo! You were the one who spotted that charbroiled cutie back then and brought it to light. I am finally moving on this project-were it not for you I'd still be starin at it on the shelf in the closet. Thank you Edd.
