Finished recapping my first TRF, but having issues receiving stations below about 1100Kc. It's a mixed bag above that point, but the strongest area station at abot 1300Kc comes in wall to wall. I'm thinking I've still got an alignment issue, so what's the trick in tuning one of these? Signal generator input (when I rock the tuning condenser to peak it) is coming in pretty strong on low generator output setting. The gain of each stage seems audible as I move from grid to grid of the 24's. And tubes test good, but who knows at different freq's. Maybe that can make a difference? Scope at the RF bypass cap after the 3rd stage shows no sound is because no audio (as opposed to a bad audio out circuit).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

JM

Just a follow up. When testing after recap, I found the antenna transformer had open primary. I tried to repair it by disassembling and bridging the open windings, but radio was still essentially dead. So I dropped in one of those generic antenna transformers from AES. That's when I got the first signs of life and started to receive just the stations on the high side of the band.
