Dial belt for Zenith 6 S 27 Tombstone Question
10/31/2001 9:58:42 AMDoyle Paynter
Hi everyone.

My friend Carlos in Spain has broken the belt on his
Zenith 6 S 27. Does Anyone know the GC replacement # or where he can get a sutable replacement? See his message below.

Please, my Zenith tombstone 6S27 has the drive belt dial broken. Hard to tune any station by this way. Do you know the GC (General Cement) reference
number or equivalent?

Perhaps can I make a belt joining both leads with Loctite glue or similar?.

Note that this is a Zenith set. You know.

Any help will be very appreciate. I'm just an amateur. Even with my poor

english.

Thanks in advance,

Carlos

Hi Doyle & Carlos

Zenith 6S27 takes GC belt #116 or JFD #16. The belt should be 9 5/16" circumference. If you don't find the right size hardware stores sell o-ring material that can be cut to size and glued.

Thanks Norm

Great Northern sells a zenith drive belt stock intended to be cut to length and glued. How reliable is a superglue mended belt? I remember trying to do
this as an emergency fix for tape recorders in the
field and it never seemed to last for very long. We
had a v slot in a piece of plastic as a gluing Jig.
The superglue would not stick to the plastic.
Of course, the load on a tape deck is a lot worse than
a tuning cap I guess.

Thank you

Hi David,

Good to hear from you. Your AK horn is coming

surface from the US so it takes 6 to 8 weeks to

get there. literally a slow boat to china. Let me know if you are not happy with it or want to return it so I will be expecting it back in the mail. It is insured for full value if lost.

It arrived safely today (15 Feb 2002). Looks the part, and very happy with it... cheers for now

David
