Victor Hyperion, needs a AP-947 Power Rectifier
6/28/2011 5:31:41 PMPete
I need a Power Rectifier for my Electrola. It appears to be complete in every other aspect but can't dtermine if it works without the AP-947. Can anyone give me a lead as to where I may find an original one or an equivalent?

Thx
Pete

Your power supply looks simmular to RCA 104 speaker. Not sure if you are familira or not but the RCA 104 speaker had electrodynamic speaker and simmular power supply... Look at 1927-28 RCA power supplies...Maybe you could find a junk RCA 104 speaker and use the power supply ..They are still common on Ebay...I had one of these supplies i sold 3 months ago as a "junk" item...

thanks for the lead, I'm not an electronic's guy. So I'll look into it and will probably be back with more questions.

Looks like the 104 speker is driven by a RCA AP-951 which appears to be close to the same as the Hyperion AP-947. I don't know enough about them to tell if they can be interchanged. Thoughts?

I am assuming that they are interchangable... Refer to the voltages you need and what a particular power supply puts out... Also if it is something you actually want to "fire" up you need to be aware that the early power supplies have lots of components sealed in tar or wax which makes them difficult to repair/restore....
