reading tube numbers

I have aquired several tubes that have had their
numbers weathered off from being outside. I have used
a 10 power loupe, cleaned with water, put them in the freezer
and have "raised" enough lettering to identify all but two. Does
anyone know something else to try? I also have drawn out the
basing diagram and tried to identify them that way, but the list
was very large.

Hi Denis

RCA tube manual RC-28 has a cross reference by base diagram. It lists all the tubes that use a specific pinout. If you indicate base diagram on the forum we may be able to help..
