RCA victor R-34 need to I.D. capacitors

Thanks to Norm and his advise I got the radio working again, the volume was open and I temp fixed it with the window paint , I want to replace the caps in this radio , I know the black rectangular boxes are the caps they are riveted to the chassis some have 2 terminals some have 3 , is there a way to determine by the part numbers on them what caps these are? Trying to trace the wires is a daunting task as just about every wire runs into a wire loom and most of the color is faded off the cloth so tracing where each wire goes is a bear, I am not familiar with these caps is each terminal a single cap ? and the other end grounded to the case? why do some have 3 terminals? anyone with any experience with this type of cap on how they are assembled or has a way to interpret the part numbers? any help is appreciated!
Thanks
Elton

Elton ..I just restored R35 a month ago...What I had to do is cut open the main cable under the chassis to be able to trace the wires..If I recall I VERY carefully craked open each can and looked at how the wires were connected internally..Most of these have a connection to ground and 2-3 + ends ( In the R35 the blocks have 2-3 caps each in them all molded together as on unit... I have a r32 sitting in my garage I have not touched yet.

Also not sure if you know..On the power supply is the large can with a "BOOK" of caps.. You will need to usolder wires..(Mark where they go back to)and pry metal tabs to remove whole thing... What I did is cut open the back side with my dremmel tool by using cut off disk...heated whole can up with a heat gun and pry out the whole gooy tar mess...I then made up a small cicut board to put caps back on to to mount in can.. I made a circut board by drilling holes in some hard plastic..I also used thick sheets of plastic to line inside of can...

Thanks George , yes I see the main filter caps are shown on the schematics with their internal connections , and your idea sounds good for it , I hate messing with these old cap blocks because of the mess, the small caps in the radio will be a pain , I really hate to cut the wire loom apart as it is in nice shape I think I am going to try and circuit trace the wires first before I resort to cutting open the loom, and try to match them to the schematic... it is just how they are internally connected that has me stumped .

Yah I hear you..I did not want to cut open the the loom but you are never going to see it unless you crack open chassis... I took cottom string and made ties around the cable like some radios have...Also It is a good idea to cut opem the cable because in some areas the insulation may be cracked on the wire ayou may want to check

George , how did you access the tube sockets? mine are hidden removing the tuning covers reveals nothing but the varible caps the tubes sockets cannot be seen, also did you restuff the cap cans? or just by -pass them alltogether?
Thanks

OOOPS I just pulled my radio out from the wall and it is a R35...I opened up all the cans and restuffed them and kept the wax blocks..I still have them in a baggie I put the bag in a recess in the cabinet for future reference...If cap blocks are the same you can remount new ones to terminal(+) boards and hook negatives to chassie in most cases...I had to ad some "filler" to cans like peices of cardboard to make up for dead space and to hold terminal strip in place
