Forum,
After recapping the AM and FM tuners, the preamp, the power amp, and rewinding the power xformer for the AM set, cabled the whole setup together for first burn. Power xformer in the W5M has a primary short. Haven't found one for sale on the web. The rewind on the tuner xformer was a real chore, but fit the small manual winder I had built. However this one is much larger, with 5v, 6.3v and 455V windings. Any suggestions for a repair.

Hi Marv

Have you checked PTOP:

Some have Hayboer make/rewind transformers but it's not cheap:

Norm,
Melted the core out of the can. At least 1 1/2 inches of tar at the bottom. Know it's a good insulator, but is it mostly for heat sinking the core and laminations to the can? Found a couple alternates at PTOP. Wish me luck.
