Testing a #42 tube on a Hickok 532

Could someone tell me what the settings should be for testing a # 42 tube on my Hickok 532? The scroll on mine does not list it.

Hi Charles

Set up for 2A5 with filament at 6.3 volts. You could also use the setting for a #41 which is similar.

I must need a better scroll as the one I have list neither of the two you suggested!?

Here is another way. Set up your tube tester for 6F6. Number 42 is the same with a different base. Here are the differences: Plate #2, Grid #3, Screen #4, Cathode #5, Suppressor #0. These are identified on 539. Hope 532 is marked.

Please bear with me. Will this require me to make jumpers from the socket to the tube?

Don't need jumpers as long as your tester has a 6 pin socket. Do you have controls for plate, grid etc? These numbers are settings for the controls as used on 539. Was thinking 532 is similar? If not, maybe Alan Douglas will have comments.

You could always make a simple adapter from 6F6 to 42 tube.

I apologize for all of the follow ups. Everytime I would send a message another would indicate that I
had not fill out the form properly.

I want to thank Norm Leal for his help.
I have given up on testing this tube for fear of damaging my tester. I would prefer to buy another tester to compliment the one I have or find someone locally to test the tubes that I can't.
Respectfully,
Charles
