Hi George

6G5/6U5 are one of the highest cost eye tubes due to be used in so many US radios.

You can use 6E5 but it will be more sensitive. Also 6AB5 and 6N5 will work. Voltage ratings are less but still operate in the circuit.

A 1629 can be used with adapter and voltage doubler for the filament.

I was looking at at taking a risk on E-pay and buying a few 6E5 from Russia... eek ..but I think I will since E-pay can give my money back if product is worthless and all...

George

Should be ok but be sure they are 6 pin tubes. Russia makes some tubes marked 6E5 followed by a letter that have octal bases. If you get one of these they will work but takes an adapter.

I'm not sure - is that option available only through Paypal?
