Hi all I am restoring a Montgomery Wards "Airline" model (I believe) 62-288 (or could be 62-290)...The schematic shows a 6k6 tube that someone replaced with a 6V6..is this ok?...Also the case is white urea with some cracks..The "hairline" cracks are im middle of case and are long..How can I make these "melt" into the case...Any good techniques? Case is VERY dirty..I will clean in my laudry tub and use a toothbrush to clean out cracks...How should I polish??

A 6V6 is a 5,000 Ohm plate resistance, while a 6K6 is 8,000 Ohms. That is going to give you some loss of power and probably a little distortion. It will work OK tho, for testing and alignment, but for the finished product I would use the right tube. I will refer you to others for case repair. Mine haven't looked too good.

I preferf a 6v6 to 6k6 in many of my sets. I note more power, better clarity, more bass, and more treble. In some sets I did note distortion, but in most it sounded fine.

I will try both ...nice to know this info for future projects ...thanks
