I don't own a 511 and don't recall seeing one, but the Riders photo looks similar to the AK 89 I have, which has a metal plate, that does not have holes in it.

The bottom cover has no ventilation holes but does provide access for variable caps and screws.
If I can find it I will send you my picture of the bottom. Just send me an E-mail and I will respond.
:I am repairing a Philco Modle 511 table top radio. It is missing the bottom cover. I am guessing it is just a flat metal cover, but i don't know if it should have holes in for ventiation. does any one know for sure what this model had for a bottom cover?

Sorry I have not gotten back to you. My problem is that I do not have an electronic camera that can take a pic of the underside of the 511 and send it to you.
All I guess I can say right now is that there are no ventilation holes, clearance holes are present on the edge of the metal base to allow for screw heads to show, and the only holes there are a few for adjustable coils.
Sorry for any delay
Lou
