Dents in clear piano finish

I am doing some minor refinishing on a Blaupunkt Riviera and there are some minor dents at the rear of the top of cabinet, where the top meets the back frame. These dents are less than a 1/16" deep. I was thinking about applying steam heat but worry about clouding the lacquer. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Others here may have much more experience in this field. However, I have found that minor blemishes can be reduced or removed from lacquer by placing the item in a sealed container with a dish of acetone. The fumes will soften the lacquer and set it in place. I'd test the 'fog' created by steam on an undesirable item (scrap piece of lacquered wood) before testing on the radio, though, just in case the fog is not reversible.

Thanks Thomas. This radio is a tad big for containment so I decided to use lacquer coats to fill in dent, sanding between coats. So far, it is working ok, just time consuming.

Ya. That can work fairly well.

For one dent I just poured lacquer into it repeatedly until it was higher than the surrounding surface, and then I sanded it down and gave the radio a clear-coat. Worked fairly well.
