picked this radio up at auction.does not have a speaker.have recapped and changed res.tubes all check good.i need to know what speaker would work with this set.i am new at this .

:tube 6sk7,6sa7,6sk7,6sq7,6sk7,6k6g,5y3.the speaker plug is 4 prong on chassis.i was told this sch.was the same as an admiral a77.

Originally it had a field coil type speaker. The field coil is also a filter choke for the power supply. You would need to add a resistor in place of where the field coil would be. Around 1200 ohms at 10 watts. Also may need to up the MFD values of C-18 B & C to 40 MFD.
Sometimes the audio output transformer is mounted on the speaker frame. Does it have the transformer still in the set ? If not you will need to add one. A PM speaker can be used after you do the modification.
