I am building a 2 tube regenative reciever, it is supposed to use a 3s4 tube for the output, I am umable to locate this tube and found that a 3Q4 will sub, but it say's it may not work in all circuits. do you think it would sub in a simple audio output circuit?

For the audio output section I think the Sub indicated would be fine. Here is a link showing the 3S4 and the preferred subs.

3Q4 will replace 3S4 in a project you are building. 3Q4 was made to be used with 90 volt B battery. The 3S4 was made for 67 1/2 volt B battery.

1S4 is the same but requires a filament wiring change.

Do you have other tubes and willing to change sockets? 3Q5GT is same as 3Q4 except octal base. 3LF4 is the same with loctal base.

:A 3V4 will also work, but with wiring changes pins 1 & 7 connected for one of filament voltages, other filament voltage goes on pin 5 I think
