radiola 17 speaker connection

I have 2 loose wires and 2 jacks on back of radio right under UX 171 tube. I'm not sure which are speaker connection and I think the other would be antenna and ground. Help, thanks

Would think the two wires would be antenna and ground, and the jacks would be speaker. It would be best to trace the wires to see where they go. Should be fairly obvious with a look at the schematic.

Warren, Do you have a 17 or 18? I believe you're right. But this is my first rebuild and I'll have to study up on symbols. I think the 18 schematic is different than the 17. Those 2 loose wires go into a small square cardboard box. All tubes light and I hooked speaker to jacks, but no sound. Time to get a little deeper into wires. Thanks Warren. Jim

Warren, Great notes. I understand this stuff so much better. One question. The 227 tube has been replaced with a 56 tube. What do you think? Thanks so much. I really appreciate your help. Jim

A 56 is a Sub for the 227. Should work fine.
