:hello warren. thank you for the reply. my radio allready has those transformers installed by some one else. problem is the volume is very low. if i reverse the wires around on the transformers i get loud volume with a squealing sound. all the 01a tubes have been tried out on my working big bix model 20. and they work fine.

Since you have a working 20 compare the wire lead length and routing from the working one. Make the problem one the same. Also measure the primary and secondary coils on the working one, again compare to the problem one. The direction the transformers are mounted makes a difference too.
