(Don't pay too much attention of my average English).
After all the help i got here, i finally installed that Crosley Park Lane in my dining room after 2 months of work (while i was also restoring 4 other radios).
I thought you might like to see some pictures of that Crosley ?
I bought it from an old furniture store downtown Montreal.
Seller said his radio was working because the dial bulb turns on !!!
But in fact, nothing was working in that radio. Even knobs were jammed. No dial pointer, broken glass. Bad caps, lots of dust and webs, and even some old dead spiders yuk !
It's push-pull amplifier impress me. It has a very good Bass and treble sound. No hum at all.
The dial glass was broken in pieces when i bought it, i redone the glass using Paint Shop Pro and print an acetate that i put behind a clear glass. And behind the glass in put an orange paper sheet that relate to the color of the cabinet.
I rejuvenated the 2 bias cells by drilling a hole in them and injecting some water inside. Very easy to do.
And of course i replaced ALL the caps.
I add a voltage doubler to increase the plate voltage of the 6X6 magic Eye.
And i think i will be force to install Corcom EMI filter in my 120v sector. It's like we have much more interferences these days than in the past. Isn't it ?
Our helical neon bulbs and dimmers are terribly noisy and generating lots of EMI. Microwaves and computers too !
Big cabinets are big job to do too.
I did 3 big cabinets at the same time.
Some of them had laminated maple wood to be replaced.
I noticed that all of my radios had their bottom cabinet painted in black. I suppose they did that beacause people tend to kick cabinets with their feet ?
Removing that black paint revealed nice wood to be varnish.
The only bad point i could tell about that Park Lane and may be some other radio too, is the fact that the dial glass are often very badly illuminated. My crosley is illuminated only by the sides. At night, we don't see well the dial glass in the middle.
Goodbye !
