Westinghouse Radio M108

In this radio one end of a wire is connected to pin no 3 of the valve 6J5GT and the other end is wound around the capacitor C14 but is not connected anywhere. What is the purpose of doing this? Can somebody give an explanation to this?

Best Regards

Pin 3 is the plate of the 6J5; the wire could be for feedback (or regeneration, if used in an RF circuit). I don't know about the model M108. Could that be an H108?

::Thanks your reply. The Model is M108 and Only one end of the wire is connected to pin no 3 of 6j5GT. The other end after one turn on the capacitor C14 is left unconnected.

Hmmmm.....first of all, it IS supposed to be wired that way (see photo below).

I believe it adds a very small amount of additional capacitance to the circuit and is called a "Gimmick".

Hopefully someone with more experience with this type of circuitry will jump in and either correct me or elaborate.

Here is the WIKI definition of a "gimmick"

Gimmick

A "gimmick" is a very simple kind of capacitive coupling: a piece of wire that is placed in proximity to another one, providing a capacitive coupling between two nodes of a few picofarads in value. Sometimes the wires are twisted together for physical stability.
