Can I get some advise or information on this radio and how to tune it into a station... I hate to sound dumb here but this is the first battery set I have ever connected up. I have the 45 and 90 volt and 6 volt supplies connected, the tubes lite up and I get static out of the speaker!!!! Now I need to understand the steps in finding a station to listen to. Thanks for the help on the power suppy and any other advise given.

Hi Tim

Early battery radios had 3 dials. All three have to be lined up to hear stations. If one is on 20 set the others to the same place. Slightly adjust for max volume.

Filament voltage is adjusted to control volume. Set the comtrols all the way up until you find stations. This should give around 5 volts on 01A filaments.

Did you check continuity of audio interstage transformers? Most radios have two transformers with 4 connections. Often one or more winding is open.

I take it this is a three tuner dial set. First you need a long wire antenna, and would help with an Earth ground connection. The three dials tune each stage. You would start out with tuning the right dial first (normally) when you hear anything tune the middle one, then the left one to strongest reception, fine tune all dials again. If this radio has not been serviced. Don't expect it to play. Things like the grid leak detector resistor are often open. This radio would be in operation similar to an Atwater Kent 10A ..
