Do you have a signal generator capable of 252.5 KC ? And a VTVM preferably ?

Hi Don

What Warren suggests is best but don't go out and spend a lot on equipment unless you plan on doing many more radios.

If you don't have equipment tune in a station and peak up two adjustments on each IF Transformer for most volume by ear.

Sir Don . . . . .

And if you DON'T have that generator for IF alignment, you CAN beat that on the frequency accuracy of the typical servicing signal generator by your merely using THE radio stations "nickel".

Specifically . . . . IF you can tune in a station operating on 1010 Khz in your area, you can use ITS incoming signal for doing a PREEECISE IF alignment.

That might have to even be at night, if its not being daytime receivable in your locale, and possibly initially using a second set to listen for station ID and its then being an aural reference while tuning in your serviced set to that station.

Then you monitor the AVC line buss and tune in for maximum peak negative voltage while using a VTVM . . . or possibly . . . the intermediate loading presented by a 20K upwards input Z VOM will work also.

Once you are peaked right onto the 1010 signal, don't move its tuning condenser afterwards, then you start with the last IF adjustment, then work towards the front of the set, with the other three IF adjustments then being sequentially peaked.

Since you ARE peaking on a signal which is FOUR times the frequency of the specified 252.5, you will be obtaining a like accuracy.

Seems AM radio stations transmit frequencies are mandated to be held to TIGHT accuracies !

Then, if you want to peak up the RF and OSC adjustments, additionally refer to my specific further info on using a " wideband noise source" for optimizing those adjustments.
