Cecilian

Does anyone know who made this model? It only says "Cecilian" under the phonograph hood. It has the hand crank on the left side along with another lever that does not appear to work. This is a 2 cabinet model, side by side. One holds the records, the other is the sound chamber from the phonograph. Any ideas as to how old this may be? Thanks for the help.

Here is just about all the information about the Canadian made phonograph. That lever is the speed control, and also the turntable brake. If the crank continues to turn, but now wind, I may have a broken spring.

Thanks Warren, Well that lever would explain a few things. It cranks just fine and the turntable does turn at a good clip, but when the needle is placed on the record, it really slows down and stops playing. That tells me there is no speed regulating the turntable correct?
Thanks again for the info.

The mechanical works need to be cleaned and lubricated. Including the spring. The speed control is a centrifugal expansion felt clutch. The spinning disk should be clean and shinny, No oil. The Felt may be old and worn, Parts are still available.
