Should hear something even with antenna choke open.

Have you measured plate and screen voltages on tubes? If you remove top connection on 2nd detector, 24 tube, the radio should make a loud noise. This will show if audio circuit is operating.

:My AK model 84 is dead. I can find oscillator signal but no station signal. Notice the antenna choke coil across the antenna trimmer was open. The fine wire was broke in about six places. Maybe got tickled from lightning? Will that kill the station sound? How can I repair it? Tried feeding the antenna around this coil but nothing.

If you were to touch top of the 24 detector, without grid cap connected, noise should be loud. Check continuity of audio choke between 24 and 47 tubes.
Since the choke was bad could antenna coil also be open? There is another choke in series with volume control. See if it's open?
You mentioned the oscillator operates and have reasonable plate and screen voltages. Should be within 20 percent or so of Rider voltages.

:Norm,
:Plate and screens seem normal. With second detector 24 tube grid wire removed there is a moderate sound of buzzing. Not very loud at all.
:Thanks,
:John
