Motorola C1N chassis

Happy New Year,
I begin the new year with a Motorola, model C1N. The tubes check good. The problem is the volume. I can receive stations but the volume control has to be wide open to hear the stations. I have checked the tubes and test good. There is a resistance chart on the Howard Sams schematic inwhich I am going to check. I was wondering what else to check in this chassis? Any help I would be greatful. By the way on the stations there is no distortion when they come in!! Thank you in advance!!

Test the plate voltage on pin 7 of the 12AV6. If it is not there, add a 470K resistor from pin 7 of the 12AV6 to pin 6 of the 50C5. The resistor may be open inside that E-1 module, and if that is the case you probably have the silver migration problem inside the IF cans. That is the cause of the resistor being open.

I think the problem is probably the couplet which feeds the audio from the 12AV6 to The 50C5. You will most likely have to make that part out of individual parts; the values are listed in the Sams. Just mount them to a terminal strip and install it in the radio.
