Cornell dubilier capacitors

Merry Christmas morning to all.
HI, I am what I call myself an advanced beginer in electronics. I bought a lot of NOS in box Cornell dubilier capacitors. 98 of em. On eBay. Honestly I was expecting leaded capacitors with 2 leads. What my question is where can I find info on what these can type , multi lug capacitors are and how they were used, and CD s numbering system. Here is an example:
# AA0390 mfd 30-50 V.D.C.W 10-350
I know what mfd s are I dont even know what the w means in vdcw.
PS once I know what these are I maybe selling some individually to make them available. However I just bought 2 1950's RCA 9-x-571 & 1-x-591 radios to resore. Any help is appreciated, THANKS!

WVDC is 'Working Volts Direct Current' the maximum safe DC voltage for the cap. '30-50' would be 30 mfd @ 50 volts. '10-350' would be 10 mfd @ 350 volts.
An ESR meter is a good way to test electrolytic caps. If they've sat for many years, I'd test them before using them.

To properly test and reform electrolytics, you need a capacitor analyzer with high voltage (50-500) leakage tests.

One of the Heath or Solar capacitor analyzers will work well for this.

You can otherwise buy a modern capacitor analyzer that will measure capacitance, and build your own reforming circuit, which will also indicate leakage.

OK I did buy on eBay eico 955 and a heathkit it 11 i believe but they need repair and calibration that i am working on also test leads are scarce I bought the materials for thes too hunted down the philco mic connectors and everything

Most of those units (with an eye tube) use a balanced bridge, and won't go out of calibration. The only repair you will usually need to make is to replace leaky and faulty capacitors. Paper capacitors should have absolutely no leakage, and electrolytics should be in good condition. Weak tubes do not affect operation except if they are completely dead. Also check resistors for proper values.

:I have a regular digital capacitor tester will that test these OK I plan on buying and esr tester but they are expensive

A regular capacitor tester will work well for testing all kinds of capacitors. You can build a leakage detector/reformer by building a DC power supply with taps from 50 (or 25) to 450 or 500 volts. Use a voltage dividing resistor and a rotary switch, and then suitable series resistance to limit current. You can copy the voltage part of the Solar model CB capacitor analyzer in the References section of this site. You can also measure voltage across the resistor to measure capacitor leakage, or, in the case of non-electrolytic capacitors, merely place a volt or current meter in series with the current source, which will indicate trace amounts of leakage, which can cause much trouble in high impedance circuits (such as the audio capacitor between the 1st and 2nd audio stages in a radio, or the AVC filter capacitor).
