Philco mod. 90 Electrolytic
12/18/2010 4:30:01 PMJon
Hello all,
Unlike the cans shown on the Philco Repair bench site, the electrolytic cans on my model 90 do not have the cap at the top you can remove. Mine are one unit with what looks like bakelite threads at the bottom that secures it to the chassis. My question is how do you open this type to re-stuff? I would like to keep this one as original looking as possible.
Thanks,
Jon.

Hi Jon

Easiest to leave cans mounted but disconnect wires. Replacement caps will be small and can be installed under the chassis.

Some cut the cans for restuffing but this will be a lot of work.

Norm,
Thanks for the info. I guess I will mount them under the chassis like all the others. I was hoping to be able to restuff the cans but I still have all those lovely bakelite blocks to restuff to satisfy my restuffing urges.
