Has anyone come up with a volume control circuit that uses a standard pot (or a pot with 1 tap) that can be used in place of a dual tap pot?
Thanks
Some 50's and 60's high fidelity and stereo sets used a 2.5 meg volume control with two taps, electrically identical to the one Zenith specified but physically somewhat different. That's one of the easier sources to find the part you need, if someone has scrapped out a console and saved the control. It's usually possible to modify the shaft on one of those newer controls to fit the shaft coupling on the Zenith chassis.
Also, Mark Oppat may still have some 2.5 meg double tapped controls available.

You can devise a circuit of fixed resistors. However, there is a reducing effect of the Radiorgan as the volume control is advanced, so that the radio can still be powerful, albeit with more mid-range and harsher tone. This would not occur if the resistor taps were separate from the volume control.
