Philco 49-906 Cap question
12/12/2010 2:50:01 PMMitch
Hello,
There is a 2 MFD 50 Volt electrolytic cap connected from pin 2 of the 19T8 Det. tube and to ground in paralell with a 47K resistor being used as a stabilizing circuit.
I don't have a 2 MFD cap, what effect will there be if i use a 10 MFD cap?
Or your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Mitch

Mitch,
That is the FM detector...filtering out too much with a higher cap...I wouldn't do it. Stick with the 2 uf. I have done a few of these, always stay within tolerance...it is for a reason....

Have to agree, although a 2.2 MF of 50 volts or higher should be just fine.

I went through some of my low volt electronic parts boxes and found a new 2.2 uF 50V cap that i plan on using for this circuit, given 10 or 20 % tolerence i think this will be ok.
Thanks for your assistance on this.
Mitch
