Simpson 260 multimeter value
9/2/2001 7:32:07 PMJerry
I have a change to buy a Simpson 260 for $22 and wondering if this would be a good buy. I've seen them on E-bay for $10 clear up to $112. I note that there are various series numbers. Does the series number have any significance in the value? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

While this may be too late for that one, in general the Simpson 260 is widely available still. Ebay pricing is not reliable, and 22 dollars is about an average price for one that it about 5 years old, or older. They do have a weakspot in the design, actually it is more of a safety feature, but there is a little coil that burns out fairly often, so you will want to check all of the ranges if you can; before you buy it. The coil can be re-wound, but if the meter fails to work and there seems no obvious problem, check it.

Prices vary widely, the model series letter indicates some changes, and the most I would consider paying for one myself is about the 20 dollar mark, unless you are getting the hard case, the leather case, or other accessory.
