Weston 981 Type 2 tube tester

Single tube version. Is the tube the same (3A4) as in the manual I downloaded? I think it is for a type 1. Except for the 6X5 being replaced by a selinium rectifier, everything else seems to be the same. I cannot get a gm test. Rectifer and diode test seems to work OK. The tube does not light up. Does anyone know the voltages at the tube pins or anything else that might help in troubleshooting?

I believe the tube is the same, but it may not light up enough to notice, like many battery-operated tubes. I have a type 3 but it's buried for a while because we're moving a freezer out of the cellar and I had to clear a path for it.

DOH!! Hit the submit button by mistake. Let's try this again. Thanks Alan, That is what I thought. Hamfest bargain. I was told a 3Q4 might work, it doesn't. I have since found out that while electronically similar, it is pinned out differently. Hopefully that is the problem. Anyone know how to calibrate one of these things?
