Hello,
The resistors in my radio all read high, I have soldered some turns of copper wire around a resistor to give the correct reading but will this result in a dry joint in time.
Regards Alan

Sir Alan . . . . .

? . .? . .? The onliest-est resistors that I even see on a 55 that might be trimmed via copper wire "add ons" would be the low value 20 ohm units used for "derived center" acquisition on the sets filament supplies.

In which case an effectve null acquisition is more important than exacting values.

No problem in soldering if you merely PRE tinned the leads immaculately , reflowed to form a pristine joint and finally cleaned the joints with a good solvent.

(Additionally . . . .considering that the cojoined wires involved were copper or tinned leads.)

Thankyou for your replies.
From memory I think they were the 20 ohm resistors measuring 32 ohm. Set did improve.

That is actually quite a drastic change (60%) (and changing them back was a good idea).

...What resistors and how far off value? Did this affect the set's performance?

I would ask the same question as Thomas...Wire wound resistors will be ok in your AK unless they are open. There are 2 carbon resistors in the power supply which will be high in value. They are under the power supply board on right side. The grid leak carbon resistor, looks like a fuse, will be open or high.
