Resources for 1960's console stereos?

I purchased a beautiful Magnavox 1p3632 console stereo from an estate sale for ten bucks! It works great, but needs some work on the grill cloth, etc. I believe this stereo is from the mid 1960's (but I'm not sure).

I was looking for a website that has information on console stereos from the 60's and 70's.

Anybody know of any?

(I'd love to get the owner's manual in PDF format!)

Scott, you're in the catbird's seat! Stereo consoles of that vintage aren't considered very collectible (yet). They will be solid state, so perhaps scorned by some of us?

Schematics or other info for your set are probably available, but maybe not free. You'll need to do some heavy-duty Googling. But if it's working, you really don't need a schematic or other info. Just clean it up and enjoy.

I have tons of 60's and 70's RCA service documents. I have been hesitant to put them online. RCA has never responded to my requests for permission nor to inquiries regarding their copyright status.

I suspect similar issues are why there are limited online resources for that period.

More and more people are collecting the 60's and 70's vintage sets (consoles and others).

I remember these sets when new. A high end line for quality minded customers. When Magnavox was still a trusted name. Not like a K-Mart Electrophonic. What's nice about your console, is you can play it continually without the worry of burning tubes. For $10.00 a good find. Enjoy.

I found out that this unit is from 1969. I was able to locate the service manual for both the turntable (W801) and the stereo (R222), but I was not able to locate the actual user's manual.

Anybody know where I could find something like this? I've looked at Magnavox Friends Yahoo group, console stereo Yahoo group, and I've visited dozens of other websites....no luck.

A number of the 60's consoles were hybrid sets. The tuners and preamplifiers were transistorized, then the power amps were on a separate chassis with 6BQ5's producing 6 or 12 watts (if push pull) per channel.

Ebay sellers offer Manuals of various kinds. Type in "radio chassis" in the search bar on Ebay's Home Page and after the 3rd or 4th page of actual radio chassis there is often page after page of various and sundry booklets - everything from Sams Photofacts to Owners Manuals that were OEM published.
