Crosley Model 51 Wire ?

'am trying to restore a bit of missing buss wire
in a Crosley 51.
can anyone tell me what it was made of ?
brass ?
copper ?
what ?

Hi Jack,
To quote from the "DRAKE'S RADIO CYCLOPEDIA"copyrighted in 1927, "Bus wire or bus bar wire is tinned copper wire, either round or square in section. The tinning prevents corrosion and makes for easy soldering. The square bus wire is about 0.062 inch on a side and is equivalent of number 14 round copper wire. Bus wire is sold in two-foot lengths and in rolls."
I use 14 gauge copper conduit wire that you would wire your house with and have had good results. I pull the black single wire out and put about a 3 foot section in a vise on one end and pull it straight. With the newer solders we have today, it solders rather easily and looks like the old round bus wire when done.
