ZENITH Mod.6-S-27 Chassis 5619

I am EMBARRASSED to even ask this question, (Been restoring radios for many years). Never ran into this one. I can't remove chassis. Removed the 4 bolts from bottom, but chassis won't slide out. Seems to be held firmly, But I can't see what is holding it. Dial assembly seems to move with chassis. If any of you are familiar with this mod. and know what is holding it, PLEASE tell me. I can't believe I have to ask such a basic question, HUMBLY Drew And Thanks for any help.

GOT IT!!!!! The RUBBER GROMMETS were badly deteriorated and formed a GLUE. Unbelievable the force it took to break them free.

Hi Drew,
Your original question does not surprise me. I have had simialr problems getting chasses out. Sometimes they have not been out of their cabinets for decades.

AES sells replacement grommets. For the 5S127 (1 year later than yours) I needed to get two sets to achieve the proper heigth the old ones provided.

All the Best,

Bill Grimm

Bill, I have those grommets. First 6-S-27 I've restored. It's really a Beauty.
