Does anyone have a scanned copy of Sams #346-10 or the RCA service notes for an RCA 7-HF-5 phonograph they could send me?

Thanks, Richard

You should have both manuals now.

No problem. Thanks for a great site! Tell us how the record changer works out.

Will do, I might even take a picture or two ;)

This is my daily use record player as it has 16, 33 1/3, 45 and 78. All of my 'modern' players just do 33 1/3 and 45. And my cranks all just do 78's or disks not to mention the needle consumption rate...

Hello, I'm looking to restore my RCA 7-HF-5, I dont know where to begin. I'm 21 and would love to do it myself if possible but I need a needle and probly service notes or a manual of some kind, I rebuilt a Hi Fi from the 70's but this is a whole new ball game. Any help would be appreciated My e-mail is Decca_records@bell.net Thanks for your time.

Mitch, I have forwarded the service documents for the 7-HF-5 to you. I can usually find Astatic needles at eBay for reasonable prices, watch the shipping charges though. I bought mine for just under $7 with free shipping.

I prefer Astatic, however Sonotone and other brands will work, and likely just as well.

Here is the list of some of the needles that will work:

  • ASTATIC N674
  • ASTATIC N674-SD
  • DUOTONE 585-SD
  • EV 3201
  • EV 3201DS
  • SONOTONE N2T-SD
  • SONOTONE N5T-SD
  • SONOTONE N7T-SD
  • SONOTONE N2T
  • SONOTONE 9987
  • RCA 78827
  • RCA 100653

The best way to learn is ask questions. I seem to learn something new all the time.

Richard
